Excursion Monte Sirino
09-03-08-After a period of time, dictated by higher-level commitments, here we are again to the massive output of Sirino. We start from the junction leading to the Shrine of Our Lady of Sirino Lagonegrese by side, and we enter the dense forest of beech trees covered with snow, in a climate that, as the road climbs, it becomes increasingly surreal. Once again we find the right words to describe the magical sounds of the mountains, the sound of light wind, the snow that falls from the branches of trees moments and our gasps for the arduous climb. In the first part, our path has followed a straight line, cutting the number of bends that characterize the rise and are overwhelmed by the snow almost to merge with the rest of the slope. There is a moment in front of the Mount Pope in the clouds, you can see on the left Val d'Agri Petrusillo of the reservoir and the wind farm. It 's just a little respite, the sky immediately closes like a clam, visibility is poor to say the least, while approaching the mountain Sirino, yet hidden from our eyes from the gray clouds. Here we are near Fontanelle, from here you should see Lauria, but this time we can hardly see the mountain c
he rises imposing in front of us. Here we expect the last effort of the day, with a tear in a very challenging, including ice and snow. Here we are finally in esplanade of the Shrine, the latter half submerged in snow. We are at 1908 meters, and unfortunately this time we are deprived of the vast panorama that this mountain has to offer its visitors. Without the usual photo on the altar of the sanctuary (the only possible background among the clouds that surround us), start down the sad, delighted to have reached such a remote place in adverse weather conditions.
